HOUSTON (AP) — Two people were killed and two more hospitalized with gunshot wounds in a shooting that authorities believe stemmed from a romantic dispute, a Houston-area sheriff said Sunday.Deputies responded to the shooting in northwest Houston Sunday morning and found multiple gunshot victims, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. He said two were confirmed dead on the scene and two others were taken to a hospital. He didn’t provide further information on their condition. The sheriff had earlier said four people were killed in the shooting. Gonzalez said the investigation is in its early phases but that the dispute may have stemmed from a break-up or divorce. He did not identify any of the people who were shot, nor the suspected shooter, but said there is no active threat to the community. The shooting took place in a residential neighborhood about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northwest of downtown Houston.Associated Press, The Ass...September ends with more heat and little rain

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The final numbers for September 2023 are in and—no surprise here—the month was much warmer than normal. The heat dome, that center of upper-level high pressure, maintained its stranglehold over our area for much of the month.90°-highs were recorded 27 times, with a much-too-hot 11 of those reaching triple digits. The hottest temperature in September was 107° on the Sept. 7. Those highs of greater than 100° ended during the weekend of September. Only three days had a high below normalSo, for 2023, there were 80 days ... 80! ... where the high at Camp Mabry made it to 100° or more. The record book will show that 2023 had the second most highs in three figures, topped by the 90 that baked this area in 2011.You may remember that back in May our team made its prediction of how many days triple digits would be reached. If you don't the guesses ranged from 33 days to 44 days. We all missed badly. September 2023 will also have the distinction of being the second warmest wi...Texans order this alcohol the most: report

TEXAS (NEXSTAR) — During the warmer months, you may have found yourself out to eat. Maybe you even sat on the patio, enjoying the warm moments before they faded into the chill of winter. There is also a pretty good chance you had a cold drink in hand, according to a new report. Toast, a restaurant point of sale and management system, recently reviewed customer trends across its roughly 93,000 U.S. restaurants, including people’s alcohol-purchasing behaviors. Overall, Toast found that if a customer was ordering alcohol, it was most likely going to be beer, which ranked as the most popular adult beverage being ordered in all 50 states during the second quarter of 2023. Restaurant-goers in Texas consumed the most tequila, Toast found. In fact, they consumed 119% more tequila than diners in any other state. Other southern states — Georgia, Arizona, and Florida — also consumed high amounts of tequila. It’s not surprising Texans choose tequila as their liquor of c...Wild reduce training camp to 31 players

The Gophers football team has had its hands full with four of the five teams it has played so far this season.Minnesota improved to 3-2 overall with a comeback 35-24 victory over Louisiana on Saturday, and its strength of schedule to date ranks 72nd in the nation, according to ESPN.It pales in comparison to what is yet to come for Minnesota. The Gophers’ remaining seven games check in as the nation’s 12th-most-difficult schedule, per ESPN, and October kicks off with arguably the toughest team they will play all year, second-ranked Michigan at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Huntington Bank Stadium.Instead of “challenging” or “daunting,” Gophers head coach P.J. Fleck has opted to use the word “opportunistic” when describing a slate which also includes Ohio State and arch rivals Iowa and Wisconsin.
